About Barbara Cieslicki Jewelry
Barbara Cieslicki Jewelry showcases jewelry designed by sisters Barbara Cieslicki and Virginia Cieslicki.
Barbara is the principal designer. Her fundamental beliefs about jewelry are that it should integrate seamlessly into your life, be effortless to wear, and reveal the beautiful, artful, sexy person you are.
Her aesthetic is deeply rooted in the art and culture of the early and mid-20th century, in particular the Modernist movement.
In the beginning of her career, Barbara designed a line of sterling silver jewelry inlaid with ebony that was sold in the best galleries in the country. Eventually, she became interested in using plastic as a primary jewelry material. She sawed, laser cut, carved, cast, dyed, and sanded plastic. She also experimented with leafing the plastic as a means of reflecting light through curved and carved surfaces--to beautiful effect.
Her current jewelry reflects a return to the use of metal as the primary material. Barbara's approach to her current metal jewelry, however, is very different. The preciousness of the jewelry no longer resides in the sterling silver and exotic wood, but rather in the delicate, meticulous craftsmanship and artful incorporation of proprietary Lucite elements, designed and elevated to "gem" status through leafing and the inlay of Swarovski crystals.
Barbara's aesthetic influences and choice of materials have resulted in jewelry that is a new voice and distinctive vision in contemporary jewelry.
Highly skilled American crafts people make all of their jewelry in New England. They create joyful, significant jewelry. It embodies the integrity and authority of design and craftsmanship that make their jewelry what you will wear and treasure.
Enjoy their jewelry! You'll find that it wears equally well on a trip to Paris, at a Met gala, and during your next trip to the local market.
